I have a five year old basset whom I have been very fortunate to have in my life, but I have come upon unforeseen circumstances and need to move. Finances being what they are, I will need to move into an apartment which doesn't allow dogs. This has been a very difficult decision for me, but want to do what is in Harley's best interest. He loves car rides and loves going for walks. He loves his back, sides and butt rubbed but surprisingly is not a big fan of belly rubs. He does have some separation anxiety with me, but a rawhide treat seems to keep him occupied. He's good with kids of all ages, and usually doesn't mind the dogs - but lets you know when he's had enough. He's very good at the vets/groomers (once you get him in there) and is very patient while being examined. Both his vet and groomer have commented on how well he does with nail cutting and ear cleaning. I haven't had any medical issues with him, other than yeast infections in his ears. He dislikes baths - but once in he's very calm/patient. He's housebroken and loves his crate. Using key words like "bed" and "cage" - he goes right in. He gets used to routines fairly quickly - he knows if you put shoes on and don't have his leash - he goes in his cage. All in all, he's a great dog and I couldn't have asked for anything better!
